The Ethnological Museum is proud to present ten jewels of Japanese art. These Ukiyoe were painted in 1857. The author of the first nine xylographies is Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858). These works belong to three different series: “The 53 stations of Tokaido”, “The 36 views of the Fuji”, “The 100 famous views of Edo”.

The last xylography is a work by the Mester Sadahide Utagawa (1807-1873), who was praised in 1866 in Paris as the most prestigious author of Japanese art.
