Tapestry

Restorers at work in the Tapestry Laboratory. A typical tapestry restoration will include:

Photographic documentation before the first washing
Thread samples taken and analyzed by the Scientific Research Laboratory
Washing with distilled water and neutral soap
Photographs taken in detail after the first washing, on both the recto and verso sides, including infrared photographs
Dying of the threads and of the mixed wool supports with the colors necessary for the restoration
Conservative restoration process
