The collection of papyri in the Gregorian Egyptian Museum includes a group of very long parchments (around 5 meters).  In spite of their good state of conservation, they are currently placed in fragile frames and are in urgent need to be relocated so they can be displayed in special cases.

STATE OF PRESERVATION:

  •   The papyri have suffered several minor damages because they have been placed between two glass surfaces.

RESTORATION PROCESS:

  • General cleaning

  • Reinforcement

  • Placement into new frames

  •  Covering with special plastic protection

  • Graphic documentation

  • Photographic documentation
