These fresco fragments, which illustrate events from the lives of saints, once belonged to the original decoration of the Roman churches of St. Agnes Outside the Walls and St. Nicholas in Prison. Among the depictions of individual saints and martyrs are the portraits of St. Peter and St. John the Baptist.
