This distinct group of cuneiform tables from southern Mesopotamia (Umma, Lagash, Drehem, Ur, Larsa) includes letters, legal transactions, administrative accounts, and royal decrees.  The restoration, which will entail a precise cleaning of the cuneiform symbols incised on the tablets surface and a production of replicas, will greatly facilitate the reading of the inscriptions.

STATE OF PRESERVATION:

  • There are salt deposits present on the object as well as old adhesives which have affixed some of the previous centuries salt deposits to the surface.
