This precious dish was made by Phoenician craftsmen and imported into Etruria. It is part of a rich trousseau of the Regolini-Galassi tomb, excavated in 1836-37 south of Cerveteri. It is embossed and engraved with Egyptian style motifs. Scenes of an African lion hunt, parades of foot-soldiers and horsemen decorate the two inner bands and central medallion.

This enormous container (circumference 174 cm.) is an Etruscan version of greco-oriental vessels and was found deposited in a "princely" tomb of the 7th century B.C.. The container was obtained for restoration in order to smooth out its uneven surface area.

The Dying Adonis (an anonymous work from the 2nd – 1st century B.C.) is here seen in the midst of restoration. This terracotta urn cover has been pieced back together denoted by the white plaster which worked to adhere the broken fragments and fills in the gaps where pieces of the objects were missing.
